Good Governance  Texas Avenue Medians

Good governance means listening to the people you serve before major decisions are made.

When major projects are being discussed, it is important to have meaningful public input and to understand the effects those decisions will have on our community on our first responders, on our local businesses, and on the residents who travel these roads every day.

The Texas Avenue medians are a perfect example of what happens when that process breaks down.

Citizens raised concerns. Business owners raised concerns. There were questions about access and the impact these medians could have on first responders trying to get where they need to go. Instead of those concerns being fully addressed from the beginning, citizens were ultimately forced to organize, circulate a petition, and fight to have their voices heard.

It should not have to get to that point.

Good governance means bringing people to the table before a major project moves forward not after the decisions have already been made. It means listening, asking the right questions, and understanding the real-world consequences of the decisions made at City Hall.

Now, the voters are going to have the final say in November.

​

And if the voters say these medians need to go, then as your mayor, I will finish the job.
